 Esther H. Ray, 77, of South Bend, In. passed away in her home around 11:30PM Tuesday June 7, 2011. She was born in Van Wert, Oh. to Beulah and Walter Hunter. She and her family moved to South Bend, In. just a few years later. Esther retired from Bendix in South Bend with over 30 years of service. She took great pride in her work and was an active UAW union member. She also spent many years volunteering with the Mental Health Association where she and others were recognized for their efforts by President Jimmy Carter. Esther also enjoyed spending time volunteering with the Zoological Society in South Bend.  Although she retired in 1985 she never slowed down. She loved spending time outside with her flowers and plants. She never missed the yearly Pow Wow Indian Festival at St. Patrick’s Park. Most of all, Esther loved and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Esther was pre-deceased by her husband of 35 years Larry, and two of her sons Thomas and Eric. Esther is survived by two sons: David,58, and Tarry,54. Her brother Chester, 88. Her grandchildren: Tracey,40, Timothy ,27, Jacob ,20, Jaime and Moran. And her great-grandchildren: Lacey,18,  Sierra,13, and Liberty ,5. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. No funeral or memorial service will be held, at the request of the deceased. Donations can be made on Esther’s behalf to the Center for Hospice or the World Wild Life Fund.
