August 9, 1956 – April 5, 2019

Mishawaka, IN –Timothy Patrick Foley, “Superman” passed away peacefully in Hospice House at the age of 62 on April 5th at 4:50am from a long fought battle with cancer. In his final days, he was surrounded by family and friends. Tim is survived by his three children, Kelli Foley, Tim (Monica) Foley, and Kevin Foley and his four grandchildren, Madeline, Erin, Decker, and Colton. He is also survived by his loving ex-wife Margaret Simons and incredible caretaker and friend, Julie Chavez. Tim is also survived by his triplet sisters Kathy Woods and Mary (John) Tucker and six other siblings, Eddy (Babs) Foley, Kevin (Cher) Foley, Debbie (Jim) White, Theresa (Phil) Rozansky, Rosemary (Chuck) Olson, and Peggy (Rodger) Carter. He will be greeted in Heaven by his Parents, Edmond and Rosemary Foley, his Nephew and Niece, Kelly and Johnny, and Sister in Law, Cher Foley. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, family members, and friends.

Tim graduated from Clay High School where he played baseball and hockey and received a scholarship to play baseball in college in Mississippi. He was self-employed as a carpet installer where he designed his own tool which was nearly patented. He also coached his sons in little league. The last few years of his life he helped mentor people with addiction problems at the Salvation Army. He had his struggles but he was tender with a kind soul and a big heart. He finally found peace and great friendship with Julie Chavez (his close friend and caretaker), who he lived with the last nine years of his life. Julie helped him to find the Lord and he was re-baptized in 2006.

There will be no visitation as the family has honored Tim’s wishes to be cremated. A celebration of his life will be held at Sacred Heart Parish Center on Notre Dame’s campus at 10:30am on Tuesday, April 23rd with a luncheon to follow at the same location. Tim was our Superman, friend, roommate, and in the end my patient. He lived with us for the past 9 years and was "Superman to Judy and I. He worked out with his bar bells up until about 3 months before he got sick. He lifted everything Judy and I couldn't. He kept our yard in the best shape all the time. I use to tease Tim about he must have done something pretty special in life to end up with a nurse & teacher taking care of his butt. He would laugh and shake his head yes. He will be missed so much! His family has become my family and are all just as sweet and caring as Tim. I love them all so much! 😘 I had never told Tim I loved him until the last week that I was taking care of him. I knelt down beside him and took his hand. I told him "Tim I love you and don't worry I will take care of you." He could barely speak but I made out " I love you too" and he smiled. I was the most proud that Tim was baptized again in 2006 and has a relationship with Go. I would walk by his room at night and most every night he would be studying Gods word. From his Notre Dame Bible given to him by his sister Debbie. I will see you again my friend on Heavens beautiful shores! God speed "Superman."

Revelation 21:4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

I remember Tim from high schools days at Clay who was kind, competitive in sports and liked to have fun. So sorry to hear of his passing and still so young. Thank you for mentioning how he found the Lord through his special friend and is now in Heaven!

I am a childhood friend of Tim’s, I grew up loving Tim as much as I did Mary and Kathy. I am so very sorry and pray for ALL of you during this most difficult time. I wish I could be with on you to celebrate Tim’s life but live to far away. I will always remember how much Tim loved God and the fun we had. May God bless all of Tim’s family and friends. Love forever,
Mary Hardig

Dear Foley Family, especially Kathy and Mary. Of course hearing of Tim's passing was so very sad and I do offer my deepest condolences to all the Foley family. Tim was a very special person in my life. I only wish, and certainly regret, loosing contact with Tim. The below lyrics capture so elegantly what I have felt since hearing of Tim's passing. I will always love him as a brother. God's Speed my friend.

To Timmy From Bork,

Heard that friends are friends forever
But we don't talk much anymore
I guess that I've gone my way
And I guess that you've gone yours
Was kindness too neglected
On my list of deep regret?
In spite of distance unexpected
Can we forgive but not forget?

Sometimes I think about you
Some old memories make me cry
Remembering the good times makes me laugh
But all in all I'm richer
For the happy and the sad
And I'm thankful for a season in your path

I guess God alone deciphers
When people need each other most
Who will be the blessed receiver
And who will be the gracious host
And all a servant here can do
Is unto the Lord avail
Content at times to be the wind
And at times to be the sail

Sometimes I think about you
Some old memories make me cry
Remembering the good times makes me laugh
But all in all I'm richer
For the happy and the sad
And I'm thankful for a season in your path

Wayne Watson - A Season in Your Path lyrics 1993
