Edward J. Pishnoff, 88, of South Bend, passed away Wednesday, August 29, 2018.
Lifelong resident of South Bend, Indiana, Ed proudly served his country as a marine in the Korean War. Upon his return, he met and married his soulmate in life, Nancy (Meeks) Pishnoff, on Jan 1, 1956. She preceded him in death in 2014. Ed worked at Studebaker and always loved to see the car rallies when they returned to South Bend. He retired from Bendix but continued to work, retiring from Notre Dame after 26 years from the South Dining Hall where he cultivated many wonderful friendships.
Ed loved to cook. No one could top the homemade pizza he made for Notre Dame game days. Thankfully he passed on his recipe. His grocery shopping skills will be greatly missed, as only he could pick out a perfect melon or ham for his daughters.
Ed had many passions. Traveling with Nancy, his children and grandchildren top the list. Wonderful memories were made, and happy times shared. His sense of humor made each trip that much more fun. He and Nancy were avid fans of Notre Dame football and Women’s basketball, holding season tickets to both for many years. Ed loved a good festival and annually fought the crowds at the Blue Berry Festival and Apple Festival. He also loved to tend his yard and keep up on current events and solve world issues from his armchair.
But, Ed’s greatest joy were his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His excitement at seeing them always spread across his face. He and Nancy went to every sporting and musical event, traveling to numerous destinations to attend. Everyone will miss his skills, including slicing the perfect piece of watermelon and being the designated ice cream scooper at all family functions. He was a wonderful father and grandfather and will be missed dearly.
Surviving are two daughters, Cathie A. Comer (Bruce) of South Bend and Diane M. Gregory (Clint) of Edwardsburg, MI; five grandchildren: Dana Vandemark (Mike Vogler), Brandon Smith (Veronica), Lindsey Hunt, Justin Gregory and Blake Gregory; five great grandchildren: Dillon Vandemark, Shyane Vandemark, Elliot Smith, Tucker Smith, and Eva Hunt.
Funeral services will be held 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 5th, at Welsheimer Family Funeral Home North, 17033 Cleveland Road, with Rev. Ron Drake officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 5:00 p.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday. Family and friends may leave e-mail condolences at www.welsheimer.com.

Nothing can prepare us for the loss of a loved one. As you prepare to lay him to rest, may the fond memories become greater than sorrow as time passes.
Until that happen may the Bible promises of our Heavenly Father give you inner peace and strength to cope . Revelation 21:4 and Acts 24:15
