Paul D. Weldy

June 15, 1965 - May 29, 2018

SOUTH BEND - Paul went home to Jesus surrounded by his family after a long valiant battle with muscular dystrophy. Paul is the son of Loyd V. “Bud” Weldy and Sharon Weldy. His father preceded him in death.

Paul is survived by sons, Taylor Weldy and Tobin Weldy of Niles, MI; stepdaughter, Brittney McCombs of Niles, MI; stepson, Brian McCombs of San Jose, CA; brothers, Loyd “Steve” Weldy (Chris) of Granger, IN, Bruce Weldy of New York City, NY, and Joel Weldy of Granger, IN; sister, Brenda Gardner (Tom) of Richardson, TX, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces & nephews.

Paul graduated from Brethren Christian Schools and attended Grace College. Paul lived in Niles most of his adult life. He was a loving son, brother, father, stepfather, and step-grandfather. He loved to watch his sons playing baseball and coached their soccer team. He loved family get-togethers and playing all sorts of games. Paul had a wonderful witty sense of humor that endeared him to family and friends. Even when his body failed, his sharp wit and sense of humor were always with him. Paul loved the Lord and knew without a doubt that he would spend eternity in Heaven.

Family and friends are invited to share memories and celebrate Paul's life on Saturday, June 9 at Welsheimer Family Funeral Home, 17033 Cleveland Rd., South Bend. Visitation from 4 to 6 pm; Services at 6 pm. The Weldy family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the wonderful nurses and staff at Center for Hospice Care, and at Medilodge of East Lansing, MI, especially Rhonda. When Tomorrow Starts Without Me

When tomorrow starts without me and I'm not here to see...
If the sun should rise and find your eyes filled with tears for me,
I wish so much you wouldn't cry the way you did today...
While thinking of the many things we didn't get to say.
I know how much you love me, as much as I love you...
And each time you think of me, I know you'll miss me, too.
But when tomorrow starts without me, please try to understand...
That Jesus came and called my name and took me by the hand,
And said my place was ready in heaven far above...
And that I'd have to leave behind all those I dearly love.
So when tomorrow starts without me, don't think we're far apart...
For every time you think of me, I'm right here in your heart.
