Ardell Tyler

SOUTH BEND - Ardell Tyler, 96, of South Bend, Indiana passed away on January 28, peacefully in her home, surrounded by family. She was born on September 20, 1921 to the late Dorothy and Clarence Hass. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Joseph, son, Jeffrey, and granddaughter, Jennifer.

She dedicated her life to taking care of others. Ardell was a compassionate nurse, devoted wife and mother, caring daughter, sweet sister, loving aunt, and the best grandma and Nana. She loved to watch ball games, cook, bake, travel, giggle, play cards, sew, crochet, shop, and snuggle her great-grandchildren. Her family is forever blessed by her unwavering love and sugar cookies.

She is survived by her daughter, Marcia O'Connell Tyler; two sons, Terry (Becky) Tyler and Steve (Susan) Tyler; ten grandchildren, Erin (Seth) Schickel, Megan (Eric) Schopmeyer, Molly (Andrew) Holderread, Kallie (Adam) Lies, Jeremy (Jill) Tyler, Jeff (Traci) Tyler, Kelsey (Ryan) Gernand, Joseph Tyler, James Tyler, and Jack Tyler, and her 20 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, February 6, at Welsheimer Family Funeral Home North, 17033 Cleveland Road, from 4-7 pm. Services will be held on Wednesday, February 7 at 11 am at Christ the King Lutheran Church, with viewing occurring from 10-11 am. Burial will take place immediately following at Highland Cemetery.
