Norma Neuliep

March 24, 1930 - Jan. 9, 2018

SOUTH BEND - Norma G. Neuliep, 87, of South Bend passed away peacefully in her home the evening of January 9, 2018. She was born in Flint, Michigan on March 24, 1930 to the late William and Mary Griffin. On December 18, 1948 in Chesterton, IN, she married her husband, the love of her life and soulmate, Frederick A. Neuliep. She was preceded in death by her husband Fred (2012) and son James (2007). Surviving are her son, Jack Neuliep (Kitty) of Westville, IN; daughter, Sandra (Chris) Freeman of Dallas, TX; & son, Steven Neuliep (Tammy) of Asheville, NC. Also surviving are her sister, Mary (Earle) Ormiston; and brothers, Bill (Carol) Griffin and Tom Griffin. Norma was a compassionate, kind, and caring person, as well as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was extremely proud of all her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. While raising four children, she went to college, earned her M.S. degree in Education, and taught first grade for over 25 years. She enjoyed quilting, playing the piano, dancing, listening to music, and spending time with family and friends. While her interests were diverse, she lived life to the fullest and was always about having fun! Norma welcomed the time when the Lord would bring her home. Visitation will be held at Welsheimer Family Funeral Home, 521 N. William St., South Bend, IN 46616 on March 9th from 5:00 pm-7:00 pm EST. Funeral Services will be held at Lydick United Methodist Church, 26510 W. Edison Rd., South Bend, IN 46628 on March 10 at 1:00 pm EST. Private burial will be held at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lydick United Methodist Church, 26510 W. Edison Road, South Bend, IN 46628 or any charity of your choice in her memory.
