SOUTH BEND - Lloyd was a loving husband and devoted father. He passed away at Memorial Hospital on November 3rd. He died with loved ones by his side following a short illness. He was 90 years old.

Lloyd was born May 27, 1927 in Holland, MI to the late Maude (Miller) and Garrett Albert Rooks. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Shirley, as well as one sister, two brothers, a brother-in-law and sister-in-law. He is survived by his daughter, Paula Bradich (Conrad) of Eagle River, WI; his son, Dan Rooks (Misti) of South Bend; his grandson, James Pender (Amy) of Milwaukee, WI; along with nieces and nephews

Lloyd graduated from Niles High School. He served in the United States Navy in the Pacific Theatre during World War II. He met his wife, Shirley on a blind date set up by his sister. He was employed as an accountant at the Mastic Corporation for 40 years. He was active in the choir and the Hope Chest at Epworth Memorial United Methodist Church and volunteered for Meals on Wheels and the Leighton Center. He enjoyed doing yardwork, reading and spending time with his family.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 7th at Epworth Memorial United Methodist Church, 2404 Lincoln Way West, South Bend with Rev. Carl Hetler officiating. Committal services and burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4 until 7 p.m. TODAY in the Welsheimer Family Funeral Home North, 17033 Cleveland Rd.

We are so sorry to hear about Lloyd's passing. He was such a good gentle man with a wonderful voice for singing in the choir. I'm sure he is now in God's choir singing with the angels. Our condolences to your family. He will be missed greatly.
