SOUTH BEND - Wanda Joy Whiteman, 85, of South Bend, passed away peacefully in her residence Tuesday, January 3rd, with her family by her side. She was born November 22, 1931, in Florence, Alabama, to the late Vera (Sadler) and Everett Pruitt. On October 24, 1953, in Mishawaka, she married Charles Whiteman, who survives. She is also survived by a daughter, Aileen K. Clark (Les) of North Liberty; sons, John C. Whiteman (Christine) and Daniel Whiteman, both of Mishawaka; five grandchildren, Joshua Boren (Katie Collins), Brad Clark, Matt Clark, Jonna Becraft (Jeremy) and Tony Whiteman; and two great-grandchildren, Maci and Laney. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Charlene Whiteman.

Wanda held several jobs in her life. She was employed by Mishawaka Water and Electric Co, Unroyal (Ball Band) and Dodge Manufacturing. She graduated from Mishawaka High School in 1950. She was a member of Clay Church where she taught Sunday school. Wanda was the Past President of Clay Democratic Women's Club. She also took art classes at I.U.S.B., and enjoyed traveling and Notre Dame football.

For Wanda, time spent with her family was everything. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 7th, in the Welsheimer Family Funeral Home North, 17033 Cleveland Rd. Committal services and burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. Friends may visit with the family on Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. and one hour prior to the services on Saturday.
