MISHAWAKA - Richard (Rick) Dean Gunn, 54, died unexpectedly Wednesday, November 2nd, in his residence. Rick was born August 5, 1962 in LaMoure, ND. He moved to Mishawaka in May from Bellville, Ohio. He is survived by his daughter, Mariah L. Bartrum (Randy) and grandson, Bronson Bartrum of Sturgis, MI; his son, Brandon D. Gunn, of Elkhart; his parents, Loretta L. and Robert R. Gunn of Mishawaka; and his sisters, Mary Rumble (Matt) of Granger and Liz Randolph (Ron) of Elkhart. He is also survived by three nieces and two nephews.

Rick graduated from Mishawaka High School in 1981 and Purdue University with a degree in Computer Analysis. He worked for Sprint Telephone in Warsaw, Indiana, and Mansfield, Ohio. He later attained a teaching degree from Ashland College and taught in the Clear Fork school system in Bellville, Ohio.

Rick loved hunting and fishing. He was a consummate outdoorsman. As a teenager, he loved playing hockey. He played on the Mishawaka Penn High School hockey team. He dreamed of being a pilot. He got his private pilot's license and loved flying. He was a popular employee all the years he worked at Sprint and was a wonderful friend to many.

A celebration of Rick's life will be held at 6:00 p.m. Friday, November 11th at the Welsheimer Family Funeral Home North located at 17033 Cleveland Road where the family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until the time of the service.

I babysat for Rick's sisters for many years. I knew him as a neighbor and am so very sorry for this great loss. I will always remember his wonderful smile and caring nature.

Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers and sympathies.
He was kind, loving, tender hearted and great company and that smile was wonderful and if he smiled on you it made you happy. . I will miss him forever and ever.
Any one whom has a family history of heart attacks be aware if you become ---incredibly tired. Please seek medical care immediately. Call 911. insist on a series of heart tests.
Again, I thank each and every one of you for loving and caring. God bless all and hug your loved ones tightly. Take time with your loved ones and don't put things
