 Connie E. Ray

July 13, 1944 - Mar. 16, 2016

GRANGER - Connie Eve Ray, 71, of Granger, died Wednesday, March 16, in Hospice House of South Bend following an illness. Mrs. Ray was born July 31, 1944, in South Bend, to the late M. Irene Dankert Nicodemus and Clarence Dankert, and was a lifetime area resident. On July 16, 1963, in South Bend, she married Donald Ray, who survives. Also surviving are her children, Lori Ross of Granger and Christopher Ray (Michelle) of Plainfield, IL; three grandchildren, Kathryn Ross Belefant, and Alexander and Jacquelynn Ross; two great-grandchildren, Kaiden and Logan Belefant; her sister, Shari Bickel (Kenneth) of Manchester, TN; and her brother, Daryl Dankert (Rebecca “Stoney”) of Osceola, IN. She was preceded in death by a sister, Arlene Dankert.

Connie was a very talented pianist who played in a number of area churches for over 50 years. She also shared her gift with the South Bend Community and Penn-Harris-Madison School Corporations as well as Bethel College. She loved to travel, make different crafts, and gardening. But most of all she loved God and her loving family. Family was very important to Connie and she will be greatly missed by them and her friends. Mostly people will remember her by her warm smile, quickness to laugh, and an unconditional love and acceptance of everyone she met.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 21st, in the Welsheimer Family Funeral Home North, 17033 Cleveland Rd., with Rev. Dick Matteson officiating. Committal services and burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. The family will receive friends from 2 until 6 p.m. Sunday, March 20th, in the funeral home.
