SOUTH BEND - Delores Flora Padgett, 86, of South Bend died Thursday, March 3rd in Hospice House of South Bend following a brief illness. Mrs. Padgett was born July 28, 1929 in South Bend to the late Hazel (Ridenouer) and Morris M. Matthews and was a lifetime area resident. On April 3, 1973 in South Bend she married Clarel W. Padgett who preceded her in death in 1995. She was also preceded in death by a brother, William Mathews. She is survived by her son, John E. Fredericks, Jr. (Nancy Devore) of South Bend; her granddaughter, Paula Sonner of Lawrenceville, IL; and a brother, Morris R. “Dick” Mathews of South Bend.

Mrs. Padgett retired as a cashier for Walgreen Drugs and had also been employed at White House Uniform Manufacturing. She was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church, American Legion Post #48 Auxiliary, and was a regular at VFW Post #8748 with the Euchre Club.

A memorial service to celebrate Delores' life will be held at 12:00 noon Wednesday, March 9th in the Welsheimer Family Funeral Home, 521 N. William St. with Rev. Jennifer Weaver of Epworth United Methodist Church officiating. Cremation will take place at Welsheimer Crematory with burial to follow at Riverview Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.

We were sorry to hear of the passing of Delores. We enjoyed having her as a dental patient for over 25 years. She was always so sweet to everyone.
