 Claudia Sue Grenert
July 13, 1955 - Sept. 5, 2015 ST. JOSEPH -
Claudia Sue Grenert, daughter of Claude Junior Grenert and Janet (Grenert) Kalt, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on September 5, 2015, in Memorial Hospital, South Bend. Claudia was one in a million; an amazing artist, a skilled carpenter, and she enjoyed nothing more than spending time with friends and family, whom she loved with all her heart. She also held a special place in her heart for animals her entire life, especially her most recent dog and constant companion, Lacy, and her cat, Ruby (Kujo) Begonia. In addition to many devoted friends both near and far, Claudia is survived by her sister, Linda (Grenert) Hopkins-Laakso; brother-in-law, Dave Laakso; nephew, Dustin Hopkins; nieces, Krista (Wes) Heroman and Brooke Hopkins; six great-nephews and one great-niece; and lifelong friend, Theresa Hall. A celebration of Claudia's life will be held at the Pinhook Park Pavillion, 2801 Riverside Drive, South Bend, Indiana, on Sunday, September 20, 2015, from 2-5 PM, with a memorial service at 3 PM at the Angel of Hope Memorial Garden, located within the park. Donations may be made to The Claudia Grenert Memorial Fund at any 1st Source Bank location, to be used for the purchase of fruit trees to establish a memorial orchard at the LaSalle Square Unity Garden, 3701 Prast Blvd., South Bend. Final arrangements are being handled by Welsheimer Funeral Home. "...the secret of life is enjoying the passage of time." - James Taylor
