Mary L. Rader

April 14, 1952 - Aug. 28, 2015 SOUTH BEND

Mary Leliaert Rader, 63, passed away of natural causes at home Friday, August 28, 2015. Mary was happiest surrounded by her siblings, children and grandchildren. In addition to her mother, Lois Leliaert, Mary is survived by her eight siblings: Raymond (Diane) Leliaert Jr., Mark (Mindy) Leliaert, Karen (Thomas) Van Meter, Diane Webster, Martha (Thomas) Daufenbach, Chris (Judy) Leliaert, Judy (John) Kenney and Barbara (Joseph) Echard. Also left to cherish Mary's memory are her three children: Ashley (Kathleen) Rader of Valrico, Fla., Melanie (Will) Mitchell of Murphy, Texas, and Patrick (Denise Ayo) Rader of Granger. Mary was "Meme" to eight adored grandchildren: Austin, Bailey and Christian Rader, John Day, Noah, Nicholas and Hannah Mitchell, and Annalivia Rader. She was also loved by a multitude of nieces and nephews. Her father, Raymond M. Leliaert Sr., preceded her in death. Mary never met a stranger and lived a full, happy life. She loved gardening, reading, sewing, traveling, and spoiling her grandchildren. She often said that she grew a new heart with the birth of each grandchild. She loved visiting South Haven, Mich., and sharing desserts, especially Sherman's ice cream, with friends and family. Mary had a special devotion to the Blessed Mother and devoted many hours registering attendees at Medjugorje conferences. Mary graduated from St. Joseph High School and retired, after many years, from Martin's Super Markets. Dear to her was Arthas, her darling basset hound. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today, August 31st, at Welsheimer Family Funeral Home North, 17033 Cleveland Road. A Rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Holy Cross Catholic Church at 920 Wilber St. at 11 00 a.m. Tuesday, with Father Daryl Rybicki officiating. In honor of Mary's generous spirit, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Little Flower Food Pantry, 54191 N. Ironwood Dr., South Bend, IN 46635; or to the Christ Child Society, 308 S. Scott St., South Bend, IN 46601

I am so shocked and saddened to hear of Mary's passing. She had such faith though so I know she is happy in heaven. We were friends so long ago and used to go to the beach when my daughter was little with Patrick and Ashley and Melanie when we both lived in Mishawaka. Such a sweet, kind person and I know she was so loved. We never know when it will be our time and so hard to think she went to soon. She will be all of her Children and Grandchildren's angel in Heaven now as she was no Earth. So sorry for your loss.
