Mildred A. Gamble, 95 of Niles died Thursday March 5, 2015 at Darden Homes, South Bend. She was born February 19, 1920 in Niles to the late Alma B. (Vite) and Clarence E. Hartline. She was also preceded in death by a son, Jon C. Gamble and sister, June Kerschner. On June 6, 1942 she married Earl C. Gamble who died in 1984. Mildred is survived by a daughter Roselynn Ailsworth (George) of Hampton, VA; one son Don E. Gamble (Vicky) of Niles; four grandchildren, Lynn Swanson (Mike), Gail Gammon (Jerry), Bryan Gamble, and Mary Colglazier (Matt); nine great-grandchildren, Nicholas Parsell, Eric Parsell, Corey Cooper, Courtney Cooper, Madeline Gamble, Josephine Gamble, Dylen Colglazier, Mason Colglazier and Anna Belle Colglazier; and two great-great-grandchildren, Oz and Lucy Parsell. Her sister, Mary Joyce Clifton (Russell) of Fort Lauderdale, FL also survives.

Mildred retired from the Department of Agriculture as a manager serving for 12 years. She was a member of Portage Prairie United Methodist Church, was a Sunday school teacher and was considered one of the best. She enjoyed being a mentor in reading for the South Bend Community School Corp and was a volunteer docent at Copshaholm. Mildred was very active in the PTA and 4-H club.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday March 10, 2015 in Portage Prairie United Methodist Church, 2450 Orange Rd., Buchanan, MI. Friends may visit with the family on Monday from 4 until 6 p.m. in the Welsheimer Family Funeral Home, 521 N. William St. and one hour prior to services in the Church on Tuesday. Interment in Portage Prairie cemetery will be at a later date. In Lieu of flowers memorial donations in Mildred’s memory may be made to the church.

So sorry to hear about Mrs. Gamble's home going. We have been friends of she and her family for many years and will miss her very much. She was a very gracious, godly lady and we know she is at eternal peace with her Lord. We send our prayers to the family.
