Daniel Radman, 88, of South Bend, passed away Friday, November 28, 2014, at his residence. Daniel was born October 29, 1926, in South Bend, to the late George and Mary (Dujmovich) Radman-ovich. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Elsie (Berzai); sister, Millie Stoil; and stepson, Robert A. Dresser. On April 20, 1974, in Mishawaka, Daniel married Jeanie Dresser, the love of his life, who survives, along with his daughter, Georgia (Charles) Mikolajczak of Mishawaka; sister, Vy Catt of Palm Harbor, Florida; brother, George P. Radman of South Bend; two grandchildren, Kevin (Robin) Mikolajczak of Harrison City, PA, and Jamie (Matt) Yops of South Bend; two great-grandchildren, Alexandra and Emily Mikolajczak; stepchildren, Deborah J. (Ronald) Dresser Hunt of South Bend and Richard P. (Debra) Dresser of Mishawaka; step-grandchildren, Bryan D. Litty, Ashlee R. Paulinski, Adam P. Paulinski, Kelly M. Dresser, Dion Noss, Loren Frost, Jamie Heater, Nick Hunt and Jessica Richard; and sister-in-law, Gladys Murphy of Cutler, IN. Daniel proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He retired from the South Bend Police Department after 20 years of service, where he walked the beats on S. Michigan St. and Chapin Street, and gained the trust and respect of all who knew him. He also taught Judo and Karate classes to his fellow officers at the old YMCA in downtown. In his earlier years, Dan enjoyed boating on the "Salty Serb" in New Buffalo. He founded the present Serbian grounds and was instrumental in building the current hall from the ground up. He was self-taught on the Serbian string instrument called the Brach, where he occasionally played with the Serbian Band. He was a member of Saint Peter & Saint Paul Serbian Orthodox Church, where he served as past-president, F.O.P. #36, Masonic Lodge #45, graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School, and former owner of Great Lakes Window Company. Dan was a caring and respected man in the community, where he helped many people without being asked. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 3rd, at Saint Peter & Saint Paul Serbian Orthodox Church, 59262 Keria Trail, South Bend, with Fr. Sasha Nedich officiating.
