Raymond H. Kenady

 Former South Bend resident Raymond Hayden Kenady, 94, of Naples, FL died October 24, 2010 from Aortic Valve Stenosis at Naples Community Hospital in Naples. He was born March 3, 1916 in Butte, ND, the fourth of five children, to Elias Hayden Kenady and Mary Ellen Mitchell Kenady. As a young man he made his way ultimately to South Bend, IN where he met and married Violet Viola Eisenman on May 28, 1938. He developed a general insurance agency which eventually became Ketchen Bros. and Kenady in South Bend. In 1987 he and Vye retired in Naples.






During his business years he served in many South Bend activities including membership at First Presbyterian Church, where he served as a Deacon and Elder, and was president of both the South Bend Kiwanis Club and Camp Fire Girls Association. He served as a board member of the South Bend Chamber of Commerce, and was a member of the Masonic Blue Lodge, a fifty year member of Scottish Rite Valley of South Bend and the Indiana Club and was also a member of Orak Shrine Temple.





He was preceded in death by his first wife of 52 years, Vye, and brothers, Paul M. Kenady and Byron M. Kenady. He is survived by his wife of 14 years, Jean Jordon Kenady; three daughters, Sandra Bavin Lattner and husband Bernie of Weems, VA, Barbara Isham and husband Kenneth of Houston, TX, and Diane Young and husband Jerry of Bremen, IN; six grandsons, George William Bavin and wife Sharon of Alexandria, VA, Clark Richard Bavin, Jr. and wife Mason of Alexandria, Brian Charles Isham and wife Brandi of Houston, John Kenneth Isham of Houston, Michael Raymond Young and wife Angela of Brownsburg, IN and Adam Carl Young of Bremen; eight great-grandchildren; sister Marjorie H. Kenady of Naples, and brother, James C. Kenady of Riverside, CA.





Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 28th in the First Presbyterian Church, 333 W. Colfax Ave., South Bend, IN, 46601. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger, IN. Friends may call in the church one hour prior to the service. A memorial service will be held at Arbor Trace in Naples at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the church or the charity of the donor’s choice.
