They married on August 22, 1959, and after John’s graduation in 1961, they moved to South Bend, IN, where Jane resided until her death.  Jane and John recently celebrated their 54th anniversary.

Jane was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin and grandmother.  She dedicated herself to her family and attended every possible extra-curricular event of her children and grandchildren.   She loved to baby sit, cook, read, hunt for morel mushrooms, garden, play the slots, play board games, lunch with fellow physician’s wives and work on jigsaw puzzles.

Throughout her physical challenges and difficulties, Jane demonstrated courage and strength and never complained. She always had an ear to listen to those who sought her counsel and advice.  Her kitchen was always a meeting place for her children, family and friends.  She had a great sense of humor and enjoyed telling funny stories.

Jane volunteered at Eggleston and Clay High schools and spent many hours transporting her children and their friends to various activities.  She was a member of the American Osteopathic Association Auxiliary.

Jane was preceded in death by her parents Paul and Margaret Nelson and a brother Jerry Nelson.  Survivors left to cherish her memory include: her devoted husband John; children John (Susan) Eichorst II of Anderson, SC, James (Nancy) Eichorst of Granger, IN, Janet (Beverly Leady) Eichorst of Prescott, AZ, Julie (Stephen) Collier of Granger, IN; grandchildren Cassie, Ryan and Connor Eichorst, and Melissa, Clay and Sarah Collier; and sister Peg (Chuck) Price of Naperville, IL.

With all the years and distance between us, you're still my family. The laughter and food in that kitchen will always warm my heart. I'm sorry I'm not there to tell you in person how much I loved your mother and how much it meant to me to have her in my life.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I just learned of her passing at 10 AM on September 23 and could not make it to the funeral mass. She was like a mother to me for many years when growing up. I will remember the fun times siting around the kitchen table with her.
