SOUTH BEND - Nancy E. Stimson, 72, of South Bend died Tuesday, August 20, 2013 in Hospice House, South Bend following an illness. Nancy was born October 10, 1940 in Indianapolis, IN to the late Maurine (Hanson) and James F. Miller and was a lifetime area resident. On June 27, 1964 in South Bend she married Harry R. Stimson, MD, who preceded her in death March 21, 2010. She is survived by two daughters, Kimberly Aslam (Tariq) of Los Alamos, NM and Jennifer Hite (Keith) of New Carlisle, IN; one son, Thomas Stimson of South Bend; and eight grandchildren, Jimmy, Holly, Mikey, and Hannah Aslam, Jaden Vervynckt, and Lilly Anastasia, and Cassandra Hite. She also leaves behind her lifelong best friends, Evelyn Spann, Genelle King, and Pat Buck. Nancy had been a teacher in the South Bend Community School Corporation at Swanson Elementary School. She was a graduate of Hanover College, Madison, IN with a BS in Sociology. She was also an active member of Tri Kappa Sorority and a member of the St. Joseph County Medical Alliance. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 24th in the Welsheimer Family Funeral Home North, 17033 Cleveland Rd. with Rev. Donald Neely officiating. Committal services and burial will follow in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger. The family will receive friends from 3 until 8 p.m. Friday, August 23rd in the funeral home.
