Emma Ravotto

Emma Ravotto, 94, of South Bend, died at 8:15 p.m. Friday, June 4, 2010 in Sanctuary at St. Paul’s.  Mrs. Ravotto was born March 5, 1916 in Leechburg, PA to the late John and Virginia (Balbo) Balbo and had lived in South Bend since 1951 coming from Leechburg.  On January 26, 1939 in Leechburg as Emma Balbo she married Attilio Ravotto who preceded her in death October 22, 1975.  She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Attilia “Jean” Ravotto; a sister, Amelia Filippone; and a brother, Victor Balbo.  She is survived by two daughters, Pierina Ravotto of Mishawaka, IN and Rosemary McNeely (George) of Peru, IN; one grandson, Steven Ravotto (Colleen) of Mishawaka, IN; and six great-grandchildren, Vince, Dominic, Jack, Gabrielle, Joseph, and Isabella Ravotto.  Emma retired from the cafeteria staff at Clay Middle and High Schools in 1986 after ten years service.  She was a long time faithful member of Christ the King Catholic Church where she was active with Harvest House and Padre Pio.  The family would like to extend a special thank you to the third floor staff at Sanctuary at St. Paul’s in appreciation of their loving care of Emma over the last few weeks.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 7th in Christ the King Catholic Church, 52473 St. Rd. 933, South Bend.  Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger.  Friends may call from 2 until 6 p.m. today, June 6th in the Welsheimer Family Funeral Home North, 17033 Cleveland Rd. where a Rosary will be prayed at 5:00 p.m.  Memorial contributions may be made to either Christ the King School, 52473 St. Rd. 933, South Bend, IN, 46637 or St. Joseph School, 217 W. 3rd St., Mishawaka, IN, 46544.  Family and friends may send e-mail condolences to www.welsheimer.com.

Rosemary and Pierina. It is with deep sympathy that I send your way in the passing of your mother. She always treated me as a son and was more of a mother to me than my own. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Ravotto...........I am so sorry for the loss of your lovely Grandmother and Great Grandmother.........what beautiful memories you will always have of her. She was devoted to all of you and I am certain you enriched her life enormously. God Bless and peace be with you on this day. My thoughts and prayers of comfort are with all of you.
