Karin M. Rasmussen

Karin M. Rasmussen, 101, of Mishawaka died Thursday morning in her home with her family at her side. She was born February 16, 1912 in South Bend to the late Edward and Petrine Pedersen and was a lifetime area resident. On September 20, 1941 in South Bend she married James E. Rasmussen who died in 1961.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Sharon Brown (James) of Mishawaka; two grandchildren, Roy E. Brown of Mishawaka and Barbara K. Patterson (James II) of South Bend; a step-granddaughter, Jasmine Garrison; and two great-grandchildren, James E. III and Zachary. She was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Nicholas Bernardi II; sisters Nancy Leggat and Esther Tremper; and a brother, Paul Pedersen.

Mrs. Rasmussen was the oldest member of the Evangelical Covenant Church and belonged to the Danish Sisterhood. She was an avid lover of dogs and cats and traveled extensively with her family on many vacations.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 9th in the Welsheimer Family Funeral Home 521 N. William St. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family in the funeral home on Monday, April 8th from 3:00 to 8:00 P.M.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Center for Hospice Care or Evangelical Covenant Church.

Sharon, Jimmy & Family,
We are so sorry to hear of your loss. Karen was a very kind sweet lady. We will miss her. We enjoyed her company at all of our visits and special occasions over the years. We have many fond memories. We send our love and condolences to all.

With mixed feelings I read of Karin's passing. While I know you will miss her, there is comfort in knowing that she is "home" with the Lord. I was always impressed, Sharon, at the excellent care you provided for your mother. God's peace and comfort to you and your family.
