Juanita J. Royce

July 20, 1925 – June 1, 2010

 

Juanita J. Royce, 84 of Granger passed away Tuesday morning in Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center.  Born July 20, 1925 in South Bend to the late Howard D. and Hazel (Upton) Firestone.  Also preceding her in death was a brother Hudson D. Firestone.  On May 30, 1942 in Saint Louis, MO she married James R. (Red) Royce who died December 6, 2006 they were married 65 years on there 60 anniversary they renewed there wedding vows with family and friends. Juanita is survived by her loving children Brenda Bardo (Butch Jones) of Union, MI, Linda Fecteau (John) and Sue Barnett-Riggs (Robert) of Granger.  Four grandchildren Connie Whitlow, Donnie Bardo, Joe Fecteau, and Ben Barnett; Three great-grandchildren Taylor Whitlow, Peyton and Samantha Fecteau. She also leaves behind her feline rescue companion “Royal”.

Juanita held with the old fashion values of family and she was a kind, caring and very giving person.  She was the world’s greatest Mother-in-Law.  She loved sewing, cooking and her favorite cookie Oatmeal Raisin.

In her earlier years she enjoyed traveling to Madison, IN to watch the boats on the Ohio River. She and Red loved playing Euchre on Saturday evening with there friends.  Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. today in the Welsheimer Family Funeral Home North 17033 Cleveland Rd. Friends may visit with the family after 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home.

Cremation will follow services and she and Red will be laid to rest in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park at a later date.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care 111 Sunnybrook Ct. South Bend, IN 46637 or the American Cancer Society.

Juanita was a 2 time cancer survivor.
