Ona Grauaug

August 15, 1931 – January 14, 2013



Ona Grauaug, 81, of South Bend passed away on Monday, January 14th in her residence after a long battle with cancer. Ona was born August 15, 1931 in Siaulai, Lithuania to the late Helen and Jonas Zukaite and has lived in South Bend since 1950 coming from Munich, Germany. On August 26, 1950 in South Bend she married her beloved husband, Ivan, who was by her side at her death as he has been since the day they met. They enjoyed 62 wonderful years together. She is also survived by her son, Vicktor R. Grauaug of Cornelius, NC; four grandchildren, Tami Sinnett (Chuck) of Carmel, IN, Amanda Bontrager (Brad) of Greenacres, FL, and Jared and Shannon Grauaug both of Westlake Village, CA; and six great grandchildren, Jason, Alicia, and Andres Sinnett, Paige and Joseph Rinehart, and Chloe Bontrager. She was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers. Ona had been employed as a seamstress for the Wilson Brothers Shirt Co. for over 21 years. She was a proud member of the Elks Auxiliary of B.P.O.E. Lodge # 235. She was a great lady who was always loved by all the friends that she had through her life and loved all of them in return. Her smiling face will be always remembered forever and missed. Funeral services to celebrate Ona’s life will be held at 6:00 p.m. Friday, January 18th in the Welsheimer Family Funeral Home North, 17033 Cleveland Rd. The family will receive friends on Friday in the funeral home from 3:00 p.m. until the time of service. At Ona’s request cremation will follow.
