Donald K. Riggle

June 26, 1935 – September 9, 2012

Donald K. Riggle, 77, of South Bend, passed away Sunday, September 9, 2012, in Memorial Hospital. Donald was born June 26, 1935 in South Bend to the late Ora and Bernice (Guyberson) Riggle. He was also preceded in death by a son, David D. Riggle, sisters, Pearl Ullery and Dorothy Firestone, and brother, OraRiggle Jr. On December 26, 1971, in South Bend, Donald married Diane (Steiner), who survives. He is also survived by his daughter, Julie Ann Bohannon, of South Bend, three grandchildren, Travis (Krysten) Burnham, April Burhham, both of Alabama, and Aubrey Bohannon, of Walkerton, IN, four great-grandsons, Tannor, Bryce, Evan, and Carter, nephews, Danny Ullery, Bill Firestone, Mark Riggle and Carl Riggle, nieces, Sharon Leinen, Elizabeth Firestone, and Susan Riggle. Donald proudly served his country with the US Army. He had worked as a driver for South Bend Transportation for twenty years, before his retirement. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who deeply cared for his family. He was an avid and better than average fisherman, who enjoyed fishing for smallmouth bass. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR, especially his favorite driver, Jeff Gordon. Funeral services will be held 9:30 a.m. Saturday, September 15, 2012 at Welsheimer Family Funeral Home North, 17033 Cleveland Rd., with Rev Russell Snyder officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family 4:00 till 7:00 p.m. Friday, September 14th, at the funeral home. I am glad that we got down to see him before the surgery. Always loved his up beat attitude towards life. Way different than my fathers. We shall miss him.

I WORKED WITH DON AT TRANSPO AS A BUS DRIVER. DON WAS A NICE, QUIET MAN. I ENJOYED WORKING WITH HIM. TO THE FAMILY,LOOK TO GOD FOR STRENGTH AND PEACE.IN THE COMING DAYS.
