Edith Elizabeth “Bette” Morse passed away on April 12, 2012 at age 91. She was born in Grand Junction, Iowa on March 1, 1921 to John Elbert and Ethel Maude (Harrison) Beeler. She is survived by her two children, Frank “Jerry” Philip and Linda Philip (Tim) Scheele, four step children Wendy (Carmine) Guerro, Marjann (Jack) Mason, Mark (Paula) Morse, and Brian (Jean) Morse, three grandchildren, Katie, Emily and Allison Scheele, four step grandchildren, Francesca (Ben) Montesano, Marcus (Stephanie) Guerro, Mark Morse, Jr., and Michael Morse, as well as three step great grandchildren, Hudson and Brody Guerro and Luciana Montesano. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Ethel Lee Lund, and her husbands, Frank King, John Philip, and Wendell Morse. She spent her life happily caring for her family and volunteering in the community. In 1975 she received her real estate license and began a successful career that spanned the next 15 years. Bette was an artist, an accomplished seamstress, as well as an expressive writer. She lovingly researched and documented her family genealogy and memories of her life, which she shared with her children and grandchildren. She was incredibly organized. One could pick up any item in her home and she could point to a file that told when and where it was purchased. She loved her independence almost as much as she loved her family and was grateful that she was still able to live in the beautiful home that she and John built in 1968. She faced life with grace and a positive attitude. Her philosophy was, “You have to learn to take the bitter with the better,” and in that regard she was an inspiration. She said recently that she felt her generation had possibly seen more changes in the world than any generation previous. She embraced those changes and worked to keep abreast of them, from her daily word puzzles, to her avid reading, to her facility with her new laptop. Hers was a life well-lived and she will be dearly missed by family and friends who loved her. The family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association. A private family remembrance will be held at a later date. Welsheimer Family Funeral Home and Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.
