Jane Elizabeth Erk

SOUTH BEND - Jane Elizabeth Erk, 89, of South Bend, passed away Saturday, February 24, 2018 in her residence. She was the wife of the late Clifford Russell Erk who passed in 2003, and was the love of her life for 54 years. Jane was born November 19, 1928, in Honesdale, Pennsylvania, to the late George M. and Clara M. (Saunders) Sandercock. She was also preceded in death by her three brothers, George, Harold, and Mead Sandercock; and her great-grandson, Dante Erk, all of whom she loved dearly.

She was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who is survived by her son, Richard (Debi) Erk of Albemarle, North Carolina; her daughters, Cynthia (Brian) Himpele of South Bend and Karen (Jim) Goodrich of Boulder, Colorado; ten grandchildren, Jennifer (Scott) Bradshaw, Patrick (Jessica) Erk, Ryan (Megan) Riesenberg, Ben (Amber) Riesenberg, Amanda (Jason) Jones, Mary Jane (D'Andre Mack) Riesenberg, Julia (Cody Long) Goodrich, Cristen (Anthony) Shields, Christopher Himpele, and Rebecca (Mike) Haller; and fifteen great-grandchildren, Mark, Maggie, Cooper, Carter Bradshaw, Arabella Erk, Julia and Gabe Erk, Erin, Olivia, and Rory Riesenberg, Carson and Stella Riesenberg, Emma Jones, Anthony Mack, and Joseph Long.

Jane was a member of the Eastern Star, and attended Saint Peter's United Church of Christ. Funeral Services will be held 3:00 p.m. Thursday, March 1, 2018 at Saint Peter's United Church of Christ, 915 N. Ironwood Drive, South Bend, with Rev. Scott Bowie officiating. Family and friends may visit with the family from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Thursday at the church. Burial will be at Aldenville Cemetery, Aldenville, PA. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society of North Central Indiana, 130 Red Coach Drive, Mishawaka, IN 46545. Welsheimer Family Funeral Home assisted with arrangements.
