Ralph H. Anderson

 

Ralph H. Anderson, 91, passed away July 21, 2012.

 

Born in Jamestown, N.Y. to Elmer A. and Virginia Johnson Anderson, he lived in Butler, Pa. and South Bend, Ind. before moving to the Uniontown, Ohio area in 2008. Ralph served in the Air Force during World War II as a bombardier on the B-17, completing 15 missions before being shot down over Germany on September 11, 1944 and held as POW at Stalag Luft I. After the war, he graduated from Hiram College where he met his wife of 49 years, Fay Horvath. He retired from Associates Investment Co. in South Bend, Indiana after a long career in the financial services area. Mr. Anderson was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in South Bend, where he served as Deacon. He and his wife loved taking trips with their friends to Las Vegas, and he enjoyed travel, European history, photography, reading and exercise.

 

Preceded in death by his wife Fay and his older brother Robert, he is survived by daughter Sue (Charles) Straw of Oak Hill, Va., son Mark (Lesley) of Uniontown, Ohio; daughter Amy (Bill) Ward of Oak Park, Ill.; and grandchildren Evan and Katie Straw, Matthew and Emily Anderson, and Meghan Ward.

 

Visitation will take place at Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 North William Street, from 12:30P – 2:00P on Friday, June 27th followed by funeral service beginning at 2:00P.
