July 29, 1931 – July 20, 2012

Edwin Hope Corpe, Jr., 80, of South Bend died unexpectedly Friday, July 20th in his residence.  He is survived by his children, Cathy Oberg (Ronald), Lori Willis (James), Edwin H. Corpe, III (Deb Smith) and Gregory Corpe (Gail Coulter); 13 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; sisters, Gloria Haeck, Marilyn Wallace, Doris Truyaert, and Carol Whitten (Charles); and brother, Larry Corpe (Shirley).  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 26th in Lydick United Methodist Church.  Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 25th in the Welsheimer Family Funeral Home North.

So sorry to hear Ed passed away. What a great guy! I broke him in as a driver for Amoco Oil. I remember that he took all kinds of medication while the truck was being unloaded due to a transplant. He was also the first of my co-workers to visit me in the hospital after I had heart surgery. I remember breaking down crying when I forst saw him coming down the corridor in his Amoco uniform. He said "I came to cheer you up, not make you cry!I kind of lost track of him since but will never forget him! One of the "Nice Guys". I know all who knew him will sorely miss him.

I will miss him! He was a great guy & a joy to have as a 2nd dad!!sending love & sympathy to all the Corpe family.
