I Was at Central while Mr. Ferrell was Principal in 63 and 64. He was one of the best. He was friendly and understood the students. He had a full and wonderful life as you can tell from his story. My sincere condolences to the family. I really like him.

I knew him only as "Mr. Ferrell". I was a student at Jefferson when he was principal. Once out of high school (Adams) I then worked for the Community School Corporation while he was there as Assistant Superintendent. What a fine, professional, caring person always giving all his time and suggestions for solving problems. What a wonderful life for a wonderful man.

My heartfelt condolences to the entire Ferrell family and especially to my good friend and classmate, Rick Ferrell (class of 61). We all have fond memories of Mr. Ferrell as our principal and many have even warmer memories of being with him at his home when his warmth, encouragement and good humor were reaffirmed, even when Rick was a little troublesome. If most educators had his wonderful qualities we would not have the problems in schools that seem so difficult. He was and is missed.

John Ferrell is my Brother-in Law.
I met his father at my sister's wedding in 1974, never again. But every visit (Often) was documented by my sister in her letters.
I have the pleasure of one of his paintings, and of knowing one of his sons.
Both speak highly of a fine life lived.

"Duke" said he was given that nickname during high school in Paoli. I met him while dating his son John over 40 years ago. Duke welcomed me, and later our sons, into the family and was a delight to be with- caring, and had a sense of humor and great smile. His sons, grandchildren and great-grandchildren plus his treasured paintings are his legacy. What I will remember most is how he showed his love for his wife Becie each day. Jan Williams Ferrell

To Rick and the Farrell Family,

A member of the CHS class of ''''61, I recall Mr. Farrell as not only a fine administrator and principal but a man who garnered respect from all who were privileged to share special moments with him. One of my heroes; he will be remembered and cherished as one of the most influential educators and human beings I''''ve been privileged to encounter. What a wonderful, full and blessed life he had!

To Rick and the Farrell family, I offer my sincere sympathies and condolences.
