Victor V. Verhaegen

Feb. 17, 1949 – June 12, 2012

On June 12, 2012 at 9:45 p.m. our beloved husband, Daddy and Papa was called home unexpectedly.  Vic was born February 17, 1949 to Leo and Lillian (Bradford) Verhaegen, who have preceded him in death.  Vic was also preceded in death by his sisters Shirley and Jo-Ann and a nephew Andy.  On September 25, 1976 Vic married Tenette Lisenko.  They have twin daughters Denise (Tony) Mathews and Kristin (Tim) McCue.  Vic loved his daughters; he often was the ref at their grade school basketball games.  On October 7, 2000 Vic became a proud Papa for the first time to Devin.  Vic also became a proud Papa in 2008 to Gage and 2010 to Grant.  His grandsons are all about their Papa no matter who else was around.  Vic loved his family and friends he would stop what he was doing no matter what it was, to go help someone that called and asked for a hand.  He enjoyed cook-outs, camping, playing cards, bonfires, golf and his favorite football team the Pittsburgh Steelers.  If Vic asked you who the best quarterback of all time was the answer better be Terry Bradshaw.  Vic was a hard worker and a great provider that no matter how he felt for 40 years he went to work at Raco.  In his younger years he would cut down trees and work on cars.  Vic was a true loyal friend.  Vic leaves behind the memories to his wife of 35 years Tenette, daughters Denise(Tony ) Mathews, Kristin (Tim) McCue, grandsons Devin Mathews, Gage and Grant McCue, sister Margaret Fine, Brothers Bob(Donna), Leo and Harvey, and many nieces, nephews and other family and close golf buddies at Whispering Springs golf club.  Vic was a tender heart and will be truly be missed.  Vic’s family would like to thank the paramedics that tried to save our Papa and their kind words. A thank you to the Sheriffs’ officer for his help after Vic’s passing.  A huge thank you to all the family and friends that were there the day of and the days after.  A funeral Mass will be held at 12:00 noon Tuesday June 19, 2012 in St. Mary’s National Catholic Church 1601 W. Sample St. with Pastor Chas Zawistowski officiating and Committal services with Military Honors will be held in Highland Cemetery. Vic was a proud Marine and served with great resolve in the Vietnam War where he received the Purple Heart.  Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday June 18^th in the Welsheimer Family Funeral Home 521 N. William St.  a prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home after which a time of sharing memories of Vic.
