James Robert Miholick “Jim”, 60, recently passed away on April 10, 2012.

Jim was born to Matthew J. Miholick and Ruth Burke Miholick (pre-deceased). He is survived by a son Matthew R. Miholick, South Bend, and daughter Lyndsay A. Alverado(Eric), Texas City, Texas, three sisters, Carol Fallat(Frank), Marla J. Corbett (Robert), of South Bend and Margaret “Peggy” Miholick (Jeri Smith) Indianapolis, one aunt Helen Manuszak, South Bend, three nieces, two nephews, three great nieces and 3 great nephews, and four grandchildren.

Jim lived most of his life in Galveston, Texas. He loved the care-free island life and lived his life to the fullest. He enjoyed playing basketball with his son, and most of all, fishing. He was an accomplished sea captain (1600 ton masters upon oceans in any waters) with the United States Coast Guard for 40 years. He sailed many foreign and state side shores and the Great Lakes. He was also involved in taking Army supplies to Haiti after the devestating earthquake. On his off time, he enjoyed spending time with his life long friend John R Donovan at the bars chasing young women. Jim was a veracious reader and avid sports fan, he loved the Fighting Irish most of all, and of course, the Chicago Cubs and Bears.

Jim was a devoted and generous father, brother and friend. In lieu of flowers, educational contributions can be made to Matthew Miholick c/o Carol Fallat at Teachers Credit Union South Bend, Indiana.

I had not seen or talked to Jim since the 60's and early 70's, but I remember a great guy that liked to have a good time. There are many happy memories of the crazy stuff we did. May you find comfort in the memories you have with Jim and the prayers that are being sent your way.

We are so sorry to hear of Jim's passing. Jim had been a family friend for years of the Tobolski family. Jim had a great sense of humor and made us all laugh. Jim and I will always remember the fun times and the joking around he did with his finger. There was never a dull moment when Jim was around. My mother was very fond of Jim and of his mother as well. We all had some great time at LaSalle and Jim was right there in the middle of it all.
Rest in peace Jim, and know that you will be greatly missed.
