 Mary Katherine Denniston

July 4, 1928 – January 6, 2012

 

 

Mary “Katherine” Denniston, 83, of Ft. Myers, FL and Mishawaka died unexpectedly Friday, January 6, 2012 in Gulf Coast Medical Center, Ft. Myers.  Mrs. Denniston was born July 4, 1928 in Jonesboro, AR to the late Tennie and Charles Barnett and had lived most of her life in the Michiana area following graduation from high school.  On April 14, 1952 in South Bend as Mary Katherine Barnett she married Roy F. Denniston, Jr. who survives.  Also surviving are two sons, Rod O. Denniston and Ron O. Denniston (Jennifer) both of Mishawaka; two grandchildren, Shawn and Angela Denniston; and a brother, Jerald Barnett (Elaine) of Las Vegas, NV. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by a sister, Wilma Maxine Yates and two brothers, Gene and Jay Barnett.  Katherine was a member of the former South Bend Chapter #2 Order of Eastern Star and First United Methodist Church of South Bend.  She loved to travel with her husband Roy and was able to visit such places as Europe, the Holy Land as well as New Zealand and Australia.  She also loved to go dancing and accompanying Roy in his many Masonic activities.  Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, January 12th in the Welsheimer Family Funeral Home North, 17033 Cleveland Rd. with Rev. Mary Hubbard of First United Methodist Church, South Bend, officiating.  Committal services and burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola, IN.  Friends may call in the funeral home on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.  Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105.  Family and friends may leave e-mail condolences at www.welsheimer.com
