Doris E. King

March 8, 1923 – June 20, 2012

 

 

Doris E. King passed away on June 20, 2012 at Hospice House of South Bend. She was born on March 8, 1923 in South Bend to Earl R. And Ruby (Korn) Porter who preceded her in death. Also preceding in death were 2 brothers, Lee N. Porter and Floyd W. Porter and a sister, Irene N. Houchin. 

Doris graduated from New Carlisle (Indiana) High school in 1941 then worked as a secretary in the real estate, mortgage and banking businesses until retiring in 1984. She married William F. King on June 12, 1944 in Kansas City Missouri. William passed away April 25, 2008 after 64 years of marriage. Surviving Doris are 4 nieces, Sandra L. Tiffany, South Bend, Barbara K. Kujawski of Edwardsburg, Nikki S. Porter of New Carlisle and Sheri Wagner of Beaver Creek Ohio and 2 nephews, Greg Porter of South Bend and Todd Porter of Michigan City. Also surviving are sisters-in-law, Maria Porter (Lee) and Paula Porter (Floyd) along with several great nieces and nephews as well as several great great nieces and nephews. Doris leaves behind special friends Jeane Brooks and Bridget Beutter, both of South Bend and a special cousin Delores Moffitt of New Carlisle. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday June 23, 2012 in The Welsheimer Family Funeral Home North 17033 Cleveland Rd. and entombment will follow in the Alcove of Peace at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park Mausoleum. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to services in the Funeral home. Doris’s family and friends wish to express their appreciation to the doctors and nursing staff at Kindred Hospital of Northern Indiana (at the former St. Joseph Hospital in Mishawaka ) and the Center for Hospice Care in South Bend for their exceptional care.
